Evil Eye 🧿
The evil eye is a supernatural belief in a curse brought about by a hateful glare, usually inspired by envy.
The belief in the evil eye has existed since prehistory and amulets to protect us have been found dating back 5,000 years. It’s estimated that around 40% of the world's population believe in the evil eye. Wearing an evil eye is said to ward off these evil forces. In Greek culture, the evil eye is known as “mati” (μάτι) — a curse given to someone with a malicious glare that is said to give bad luck or loss to whoever receives it. If someone is thinking or wishing negatively towards you, the evil eye will protect you from their ill intentions.
This is why it’s important to wear an evil eye at all times. Recognised worldwide – Nazar, Pasternak, ayin hasad, böse blick, mauvais oeil, ayin harac, zemmel verés, mal de ojo, droch-shuil – The evil eye is one of the strongest and most powerful ancient symbols in the world.
Many believe the evil eye can protect from the three different evil manifestations – The Intentional, The Unintentional and The Unseen
These curses manifest in things such as jealousy, someone wishing you bad luck, or negative energy surrounding you. Anyone who feared ill intent or bad luck would often wear the evil eye for protection.
